Facebook celebrates Pride month this year with different initiatives that will be live throughout June and, some, throughout the year.
It’s Pride Month again, and Facebook celebrates with a host of new features on its flagship app, Messenger, and Messenger Kids.
The Pride-themed creative ideas coming to the Facebook app this month include new authentic avatars, a new vibrant Pride logo populating the top of the app itself, colorful backgrounds for posts, as well as new chat themes on Messenger and Messenger Kids.
The vibrant Pride-themed Facebook logo is the work of Jasmina El Bouamraoui, a.k.a. EL BOUM, a Berlin-based artist who sought to express their take on non-binary and diverse communities through textures, shapes, and colors – all meant to show the authenticity and confidence of each character behind each letter of the app’s name.

The new rainbow-colored stickers for feed and Instagram Stories were created by three global LGBTQ+ illustrators, and they include stickers for gender non-conforming, asexual, trans, and gender-fluid identities.
Furthermore, you will notice new rainbow-colored hashtags on Instagram this month, such as #genderfluid, #pridefamily, and #gayvisibility. Using one of these hashtags in a Story will turn your Story ring into a rainbow for the 24 hours your photo or video is live.
In addition to the above, Facebook is partnering with NGOs and experts in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, to discuss mental health, share resources, and showcase inclusive Facebook communities. The platform will highlight inclusive conversations and set up a Messenger chatbot to provide information about LGBTQ+ communities, inspiring creators, and NGOs offering counseling.
In order to offer support to LGBTQ+ business owners, curated #Pride collections will be made available on Facebook and Instagram. Live Shopping Fridays on Facebook will feature Pride-themed events from various inclusive brands.

The Facebook family is celebrating Pride month this year with different initiatives that will be live throughout June and, some, throughout the year.
Also, in the US, Facebook will offer live networking and training resources for LGBTQ-owned small businesses – in partnership with the National LGBT Chamber of Commerce (NGLCC). Similar resources will also be available in Brazil, Mexico, the UK, and France.
To further amplify voices from the LGBTQ+ community, Facebook will showcase creators, artists, and trailblazers from around the world – in live sessions with LGBTQ+ creators across Asia, Watch parties with Kehlani and Larray traveling around Los Angeles to capture how people celebrate Pride Month, and more.
Instagram, on the other hand, will spotlight LGBTQ+ youth creators and allies from around the world.
