According to a report by LetsGoDigital, the U.S. tech giant opened a position for an “Android camera chief system architect/engineer for Surface development” back in October 2021, GizmoChina reported Tuesday.

That same month, the brand also filed a patent with the World Intellectual Property Office (WIPO) for a “logo camera” design for the Surface device.

The four cameras in question will be positioned similarly to the logo design, with each camera having a different color filter.

These four sensors will be placed under the display of the device and are designed for a “mobile computing device such as a Microsoft Surface device.”

In addition, the cameras can display a color icon when the sensor is not in use to display the company logo on the front panel. This way, the device will display the default logo and switch to the camera when the shutter is triggered.

The four-camera module is arranged in a 2×2 pattern and will allow Microsoft to make the device slimmer, as several sensors will consist of thinner modules.

The camera will be able to provide high resolution images and high pixel density by optimizing each sensor for one specific color.

In other words, one sensor will be dedicated exclusively to blue, and another to green, red and yellow.
