Twitter tests the way to view Youtube

Twitter has begun testing a new way to let you watch YouTube videos directly in the timeline, without having to exit the application.

Sharing YouTube videos on Twitter is about to make a lot more sense.

Twitter is testing letting users watch YouTube videos in-feed. The test is currently live for select iOS users in Canada, Japan, Saudi Arabia, and the US. Until now you would have to click a link to open another screen in order to watch a YouTube video that was shared on Twitter.

I have tested it on my account (US-based) and I can confirm the YouTube video link I shared in a tweet was viewable directly in the tweet itself. To see of it works for you, click on the tweet below (not the YouTube link because it will not work in embedded tweets for the moment.)

The test follows recent improvements Twitter brought to its platform for a better media experience, such as removing the auto-cropping of images on mobile as well as support for 4K images on iOS and Android.
